Today the chicks came! A lady from The Happy Chick Company prepared the incubator and put the eggs in. There are 18 eggs and some have little cracks in them all ready . We have to keep them at 37 degrees so they are the right temperature and humidity. Year 2 gave us a top tip: to read them a story!

Tiny cracks appeared in one egg this afternoon but no chicks yet!

The chicks are jumping around and are very excited. We have to wait until they are all dry until we can move them into the brooding box.

We are back, and so exited to see the chicks again! We had some time with the chicks today, and we noticed that they have some tiny feathers growing under their wings. All of them have grown a bit, and we gave the a treat… Worms!

The chicks are growing and fast. They are all growing little feathers and are using them to jump out of people’s hands and run faster than Usain Bolt. Soon they will be leaving :-(. So we are trying to play with them as much as we can. Ms Frood gave us different types of hen’s eggs. Everyone completely loves the chicks and some of them are named. Some people are going to adopt them but for now they are owned by year5.

This week it has been chickorama!!! We have had chick champs to clean out the brooding box!
It was such fun! Sadly, one has constipation and has his poo stuck up his bum. This week I got to clean out the chicks and all the chicks got so excited to see their small cozy home clean!
